We first had our initial consultation, a requirement for any treatment. Our licensed aesthetician greeted us warmly and we began to discuss our skin concerns, medical history, and treatment goals. FYI – a personalized treatment plan is created based on your specific skin needs and desired outcomes. This may include the number of sessions required and the areas to be treated!
We were given instructions to prepare our skin, such as avoiding sun exposure, tanning, and certain skincare products (e.g., retinoids) for a few days before the treatment. Obviously, this was very helpful!
On the day of the treatment, our skin was thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, oils, or impurities. This included steam and gentle lymphatic drainage. Then, a topical numbing cream was applied to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. This was left on for about 20 minutes, however, it can last up to 60 minutes depending on the patient.
After that, we were ready to rock and roll!
The Fractora handpiece was applied to the skin. The device has tiny pins that deliver RF energy into the skin, creating micro-injuries and stimulating collagen production. The treatment lasted about 20 minutes. Many people will take breaks so it may last longer. However, we just wanted to push through it! Even with the numbing cream, there was some discomfort. But, everyone has a different pain threshold so we can’t really describe the level of pain.
*The provider can adjust the device settings to tailor the depth and intensity of the treatment based on your skin type and concerns.
After we were done our aesthetician applied an ice roller all over our face. Pure bliss! A soothing cream was also applied to the treated areas to help with healing and comfort.
The rest of the day our face was red, puffy and hot. It also started throbbing a bit and a slight headache appeared after an hour. However, it was worth it because of a couple of days later.
Results after a couple of days? AMAZING. We would definitely do this treatment again, as much as the clinic will allow!
